The Angel is an area near the Islington High Street and part of the London Borough of Islington.  It is actually referred to as a corner and not a district and is still considered part of Finsbury.  Up until the 1960s it was part of the Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury.  The name Angel was originally given to an Inn which became prominent in the area.  In the Oliver Twist novel, Charles Dickens mentioned the Inn as a stop-by for a coach.

The main attractions in the area is the building which has replaced the original Inn and this now is a red brick building with a distinctive design.  For years it served its purpose as a café and restaurant which had two floors, but went into some decline after the Second World War.  The restaurant was closed soon after due to the extensive cost of running the place.  Today the building is the Co-operative Bank and also a market research company on the second floor.  London Minibus can provide transport services to all key landmarks within the area.

In terms of public transport the main service is the Angel London Underground Station. There are current proposals of extending the station to provide further interchanges.
